Family Therapy – 55 or 90 minute sessions
Couples or Family Intensive Therapy
Intensive therapy involves multiple hours of therapy in a condensed time period, often 8-10 hours over the course of a weekend.
Couples or families may benefit from intensive therapy if they have a significant issue they want to work through, if their schedules make ongoing therapy challenging, or if they are experiencing transition and want to build a solid foundation for their relationship moving forward.
Premarital Counseling: PREPARE/ENRICH Facilitation
PREPARE/ENRICH is an online questionnaire for couples who are at commitment points in their relationships (e.g., premarital, re-marriage) or who are looking to strengthen their relationship. The PREPARE/ENRICH program provides couple-specific feedback containing insight into effective communication strategies, personality differences, recreation, parenting, conflict resolution, and more.
Gottman Couples Check-Up
The Gottman approach provides a set of questionnaires that assess how a relationship is doing. Based on my conversations with you and the written assessment results, we can get a clear overall picture of your relationship. From there, we select areas to focus on, practice new strategies, and integrate these ideas into your routine so you can maintain the benefits over time.
The Gottman Couple Check-Up package includes 6 sessions. In each session, you work directly with Dr. Susan Perkins. The sessions are structured as:
1. Interview with the couple together
2. Individual interviews with each person
3. Assessment results and discussion of relationship picture
4. Strategies and tools based on key areas you identify
5. Strategies and tools based on key areas you identify, addressing struggles to implementing as needed. Establish long-term strategies.
6. Follow-up session 4-8 weeks after session 5. This session allows for reflection and adjustment in long-term strategies as needed.
I recommend 90 minutes for each session, though they can be 55-minutes if needed. Sessions can be scheduled in an intensive format or spread over time. To get the most benefit, I recommend either scheduling an intensive or individual sessions no more than two weeks apart, with the exception of the final session.
